YOGA & AYURVEDA
Ancient Sister Sciences, Practised Together
Yoga and Ayurveda are rooted in the same understanding that body, mind, energy, lifestyle and consciousness are deeply connected.
Yoga gives us the practices: movement, breath, meditation, philosophy and self-enquiry.
Ayurveda helps us understand the person practising: their constitution, energy, digestion, nervous system, season of life and what may bring them back towards balance.

This is why I teach yoga through an Ayurvedic lens.
I not only teach asana (postures).

I consider what might be happening in
the body, mind and nervous system.
It took me many years to hone my craft and it is always evolving
There are familiar rhythms, sequences and themes in my teaching,
which many students find reassuring. At the same time, I don’t teach from a fixed script.
I bring structure, care and clear guidance,
while leaving space to respond creatively
to the people in front of me.

Whether I’m moving around, teaching from the mat, using the mirror
or demonstrating,
I’m always paying attention.
That’s the anthropologist in me.

I notice the small signals that show how people have arrived,
not just physically, but energetically and emotionally.
Someone may rush in late, chat before class because they have not quite settled,
hold their breath, clench their jaw, push too hard, seem distracted, look tired
or need more time to arrive in their body.

WHAT MAKES MY YOGA TEACHING DIFFERENT
IS THE AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING BEHIND IT
Ayurveda recognises that we all carry different qualities,
known as the doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

Vata (air+space)
May show up as movement, restlessness or scattered energy.
Pitta (fire + water)
May appear as heat, intensity, focus, frustration or competitiveness.
Kapha (earth + water)
May show as steadiness, heaviness, tiredness or a need for encouragement.
These signs help me sense what the class needs:
grounding for the restless,
softness for the driven
energy for the tired
steadiness for the scattered
and rest for those who need to come back to themselves.

This is why many students say they feel seen, supported and genuinely cared for in my classes.
🌿 Ayurveda-informed teaching 🌿 Suitable for every body

My deeper programmes are designed for women who are ready for more personal support
for their health and wellbeing.
Rather than offering one-size-fits-all advice; we look at your unique constitution, your current behaviours and habits, lifestyle, energy, digestion, emotional wellbeing and what you are genuinely able to sustain working within the framework of work and family life.
From there, we co-create the coaching relationship and create a way forward that feels grounded, deeply supportive and sustainable.
